THE ESSEX MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

9:30 am Service at Veterans Memorial Park, Five Corners, Essex

10:00 am Parade Begins

Bring a parishable food item for a Donation to Aunt Dots, items will be collected along the parade route 

Parade Route and Parking

 

In response to your request we are posting a picture of the parade route, and suggestions for parking.  

 

Parade Route:  At 10:00am exactly, (be in place no later than 9:30am) parade steps off and leaves gate F of the Champlain Valley Exposition, follows access road to Rte 2A and turns right onto Rte 2A South (Lincoln St), follows Rte 2A south to the Essex Junction 5 corners (where reviewing stand is). Parade turns right at the 5 corners onto Rte 15 West (Pearl St) follows Pearl St to Exposition gate B (by Bouchard Pierce) where they will turn right and continue to the dispersal area. Motor vehicle performers may enter gate B or continue on. Total distance approximately:  1 ½ miles.

 

Parking: Parking in and around the parade route is available at Essex High School, Railroad Ave by the Amtrak Station and surrounding areas.  However there is no parking on Route 2A or Pearl Street.  If you park in Essex Shopping centers by Big Lots it is recommended you stay in sight of your vehicle.  

There is parade viewing all along the route.  

 

PUBLIC NOTICE
Attention home and business owners in the Essex Vicinity of Route 2A, Prospect St., Central St., Lincoln Terrace, Hillcrest Sts., School St., Summit Sts., Curtis Ave., Pearl St. and Pearl St Shopping Centers. The Five Corners in Essex Jct. and exits to Route 2A and Pearl St in Essex will be closed from the hours of 9am – to approximately 12 noon to allow for the passage of The Essex Memorial Day Parade.  

 

Please plan your routes accordingly and thank you for your support of this community event.

Banner Carriers

Carry the division banners and sub banners on the parade route.  Teams are welcome to walk as a team and wear thier team shirts  (Ages 12+ please)

Block Captains

Our block captains assure the safety of the crowd by assuring children and spectators stay on the grass and do not run into the road.  

Parade Committee Members​​

​Assists committee with the planning of the parade. Committee members can participate in any capacity, there are many ways to help.​

Parade Marshals 

​Walk with the divisions, while maintaining the parade lineup and keeping their assigned division information. (adults only please).  You will receive a parade T-Shirt and your name will be entered in a drawing for a prize!

Parking Assistants

Assists parade participants
arriving, departing, and returning to the fairgrounds.
​(adults only please).  You will receive a parade t-shirt and your name entered into a drawing for a prize!
